Schools under blow up threat in Varanasi, security tightened
Varanasi, Aug 6 (UNI) Security has been beefed up in this holy city after terror outfit Indian Mujahideen allegedly threatened to blow up two public schools few days back.
The police had sounded an alert and tightened its intelligence network to avert any untoward incident in the schools under the terror threat, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vijay Prakash said today.
Besides, the schools' administration had been asked to be alert and inform police about any suspicious item or person spotted near the buildings.
Both the schools received the warning through an e-mail, the SSP informed.
So far, the investigations have concluded that the e-mail was a prank, Inspector General of Police (IG) (Varanasi zone) Praveen Kumar said, adding that, the police, However, did not want to take any chance.
