Shillong, Aug 6 (UNI) NCP leader and former Lok Sabha speaker Purno A Sangma has ruled out any possibility of interferance by the party high command on the functioning of the MPA government in Meghalaya.
Releasing the Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the NCP-led Meghalaya Progressive Alliance (MPA) here last evening, Mr Sangma said that Union Agriculture Minister and NCP chief Sharad Pawar will not interfere in the functioning of the party in this state.
''The NCP believes in decentralisation of power and it follows the direction of the lower command and not of the high command, which the other parties follow,'' he stated.
Mr Sangma, also the chairman of the state Planning Board, said a reciprocal policy was followed and hence Mr Pawar would not interfere in issues related to Meghalaya in particular and the north east in general.
He further clarified that there was no move for the party's merger with the Congress either at the centrr or in the state. Mr Sangma said the NCP was commited to be part of the MPA coalition for five years or more.
