Meghalaya police officer detained in Bangladesh for gate crashed
Shillong, Aug 6 (UNI) A Meghalaya police official today was detained by the Bangladesh Rifles for gate crashing inside the territory, a BSF officail said.
The police officer, who hold the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police drove his vehice straight inside Tamabil area under Sylhet district of Bangladesh from Dawki check post in Meghalaya at around 1730 hours under influence of alcohol, DIG BSF in-charge Operations R Colney told UNI over the phone.
Meghalaya police, officials, however refused to divulge the name of the DSP to the BSF authorities, even as police officials hinted severe punishment to the erring the police officer.
''He was in a drunken state of mind and cross over to Bangladesh,'' Mr Colney said, adding that the BDR officials later handed over the police officer to Meghalaya police personnel, who were manning the checkpost.
