Approach police station on finding fake currency: UP police
Lucknow, Aug 6 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh police today asked the people to approach the nearest police station on receiving counterfeit currency by any bank or its ATM.
State Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Brij Lal here said people can register cases, if they receive fake currency from any bank or ATM.
Ending a general panic among the people after detection of fake currencies worth over Rs 46.24 lakhs in the chest of the State Bank of India, Dumariyaganj branch in Siddharthnagar district recently, the police official maintained that police is open to register case if anyone wants to, after finding fake currency.
Earlier, people were afraid to go to the police after receiving fake notes as they feared that police might register case against them.
A case of a fake currency issued by an ATM had been registered in Faizabad city today.
Meanwnile, Mr Brijlal said the counting of fake currency at the SBI's Dumriyaganj branch continued. Till yesterday, Rs 66.24 lakh of fake currency was detected after counting Rs one crore.
