New Delhi, Aug 6 : Continuing its pride of place in the country's sports arena, 15 sportspersons from Indian Railways have found place in the official 57-member Indian squad participating in the forthcoming Beijing Olympics.
Railway's contingent in the Indian squad is the biggest contingent from a single organization in the country. Railway sportspersons have been participating in prestigious national and international competitions like Asiad, Common Wealth Games, Olympics and bringing laurels to the nation.
The Railway sportspersons participating at the Beijing Olympics are Dola Banerjee (Archery), L. Bombayala Devi (Archery), Mangal Singh Campia (Archery), Ranjith Maheswary (Athletic), Krishna Poonia (Athletic), J.J. Sobha (Athletic), Sushmita Singha Ray (Athletic), G.G. Pramilaa (Athletic), Preeja Sreedharan (Athletic) S. Geeta (Athletic), Jitender (Boxing), Akhil Kumar (Boxing), Dinesh (Boxing), Sushil Kumar (Wrestling), and Rajiv Tomar (Wrestling).
With a galaxy of promising and outstanding sportspersons on its roll, since the inception of Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in 1928, Indian Railways have been striving hard to take up the new challenges and are very hopeful for a good show in this mega sports event of Olympics going to be held at Beijing from August 8 to August 24.
