Two sisters among three women commit suicide in Kashmir
Srinagar, Aug 5 (UNI) Two sisters were among the three women who allegedly commited suicide in the Kashmir valley, official sources said today.
Sources said a 23-year-old woman, Shaheena Akhter, allegedly consumed some poisonous substance in her Rajpora, Zachaldara house. She was immediately rushed to sub-district hospital where she died.
In another incident, two sisters, Furquan-ul-Riyaz, 14, and Rabia Riyaz, 10, daughter's of Riyaz Ahmad Pir, resident of Udipora, reportedly consumed some poisonous substance.
Both the girls were rushed to sub-district hospital Handwara where they died.
It was not immediately known why they took this extreme step.
At an average, one to two people, mostly women, commit suicide in the Kashmir valley daily despite a fatwa being issued by Ulemas declaring the act as un-Islamic.
