SWAC and WAC keep up winning spree

Chandigarh, Aug 5 (UNI) South Western Air Command and Western Air Command maintained their winning spree on the second day of the Air Force Hockey Championship being organised by 3 Base Repair Depot at the Sector 42 Hockey Stadium here today.

WAC outplayed Southern Air Command 6-0 after establishing a commanding 4-0 lead at half time for their second successive triumph. They were on the offensive from the beginning and got their first goal in the first minute.

Later they added one goal each through Satvir Singh (10th), S Singh (22nd), Kispota (26th), Major Singh (46th) and Keshwani (66) for their fluent victory. WAC had earlier beaten Central Air Command by 3-1.

South Western Air Command routed Air Headquarters 5-1. It was Air Headquarters which drew the first blood through S Singh in the third minute. Air Headquarters kept this slender lead intact till crossing over.

On resumption, SWAC displayed better coordination and appetite for goals. They scored two goals in the 37th minute. First Sami found the object and immediately AK Yadav made it 2-1. Then Domnic got a brace by scoring in the 38th and 43rd minutes. Arun Kumar rounded of the winners' tally in the 57th minute. In their opening fixture SWAC had beaten Training Command by 1-0.

Training Command on Tuesday registered their first victory by beating beat Maintenance Command by 2-0. Nambiraj put TC ahead in the 7th minute and Harish Kumar doubled the victory margin with a goal in the 67th minute.

In yet another match, Central Air Command got the better of Eastern Air Command by 3-1. Sequira put CAC ahead with a fine goal in the 20th minute. Sunil Kumar restored parity for EAC in the 55th minute.

In the closing stages of the game, CAC mounted relentless pressure and scored two goals within a span of two minutes. Francis gave CAC lead in the 64th minute and Anil made it safe for CAC in the 66th minute.
