Melur Medows' new project near Mettupalayam

Chennai, Aug 5 (UNI) Melur Meadows, which has been promoting community living concept, would construct 150 cottages at an investment of Rs 20 crore near Mettupalayam on the foothills of Udhagamandalam.

The first phase of the project comprising 40 cottages would be ready by January next year. The project which is coming up in a nine acre area, would be completed by January 2010, its Director P Sathyanarayanan told reporters here today.

Conceptualised under the theme "Catch up with Happy Living", the cottages would be designed by popular architects from Auroville Design Center, he said.

The price range starts from Rs ten lakh for a 388 sq ft of cottage to Rs 27 lakhs, for a 1,200 sq ft built up area.

''Melur meadows is about hygienic clean living without any pollution. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the mad crowd in the cities, the rural location, dotted with hundreds of plants and trees, will help the cottage buyers breathe fresh and healthy air'', A farm would form part of the project to ensure spply of fresh vegetables and milk at the doorstep of the residents.

''This unique combination of community living is blended with rural lifestyle with modern amenities, making it a rural retreat, a retirement home and a safe investment option at affordable rates'', he added.

He said the company was also planning to launch a similar concept in Mysore and Tiruchirapalli.
