Lucknow, Aug 5 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government today said the provisions of the National Building Code-2005 should be implemented for construction of the anti-tremor structures in the state.
The Disaster Management Committees constituted at district, tehsil and block levels should be activated, so that quick action could be taken at the time of any eventuality. The rescue team should also be provided special uniform, UP Chief Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta said while presiding over the meeting of the state level steering committee of the Disaster Management Programme here.
Speaking at the meeting, Secretary, Planning and State Project Officer of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Umesh Sinha said the Disaster Risk Management Project has already been implemented in 13 districts of the state.
As many as 13 districts, 183 blocks and 26,098 villages were being covered under this project. Besides, Urban Earthquake Minimisation Programme was being conducted in six earthquake prone districts of the state, including Meerut, Bareilly, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow and Varanasi.
