Mumbai, Aug 4: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) was trading almost flat, after opening in the red 62.05 points at 14,594.64, in the early trade on mixed global cues.
After resuming the day in negative zone, Sensex touched a low of 14,578.92, sheding 77.77 points from its previous close of 14,656.69, and touched a high of 14,723.98, gaining 67.29 points in the early trade. However, it was trading 26 points up at 14,682 in the mid-morning trade. Whereas, the S &P CNX Nifty was trading at 4,421 with a positive margine of seven points.
Housing Development Finance Corporation (HEFC) slumped 2.38 per cent to Rs 2345 on 14,670 shares. It was the top loser from Sensex pack in the opening trade.
TCS was down 1.64 pc to Rs 825.50, Jaiprakash Associates down 1.61 pc to Rs 167.70, Reliance Industries declined 1.67 pc at Rs 2261.35 on 1.56 lakh shares and Hindustan Unilever down 1.61 pc to Rs 232.50, were the other major losers.
However, Maruti Suzuki India gained 2.19 pc to Rs 572.80 on 34,240 shares. It was the top gainer from Sensex pack.
ICICI Bank gained 1.62 pc to Rs 651.95, HDFC Bank up 1.86 pc to Rs 1127.85 and State Bank of India Bank was marginally up at Rs 1512.
