Sania Mizra slips out of top-50
New Delhi, Aug 4: Barely four days to go for Beijing Olympics, India's star tennis player Sania Mirza recieved another setback as she slipped out of the top-50 list to the 60th place in the latest WTA charts issued on Monday, Aug 4.
Sania, who had recently crashed out in the second round of the Nordea Nordic Light Open, fell 10 places in the new charts and has 538 ranking points in her kitty. The new spot was the lowest for the Indian ace since she finished the 2006 season at 66th. It has been a disappointing season for the Hyderabadi girl who was ailing with a wrist injury and the form has been an ever growing concern for her.
However, her doubles standings remained static at 26th for this week.
Meanwhile, Indian Davis cuppers Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes were at ninth and 15th spots respectively in the ATP charts this week.
The ace duo will team up for the Olympic Games and is being considered as the ''best hope'' for India to bring home a medal.
