Reese, Jake deny being engaged
New York, Aug 4 : Representatives for Reese Witherspoon, 32, and Jake Gyllenhaal, 27, have dismissed reports that they are planning to marry around Christmas as lies.
"They are not engaged, getting married or any of the reports," People magazine quoted them as saying.
Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal began quietly dating in April 2007, and are one of Hollywood's most low-key couples.
Britain's Daily Mail newspaper recently published a report that said that the couple were planning to marry around Christmas.
The newspaper report suggested that Gyllenhaal told his pals that he would marry his Oscar-winning girlfriend around his birthday on December 19.
"Jake is telling everyone they are getting married at Christmas," the New York Daily News quoted a source as telling the Daily Mail on the set of the actor's new film 'Prince of Persia'.
"He told me he had proposed several times but she kept telling him she wanted to give their relationship more time. When he asked her again a couple of weeks ago, she finally said yes," the source added.
The couple, who met while filming the 2006 thriller 'Rendition', never really confirmed their relationship publicly.
They reportedly broke up later that same year, but reconciled soon after.
