Rajnath Singh criticises UPA for repeatedly releasing ''fake'' CDs
Ranchi, Aug 4 (UNI) BJP president Rajnath Singh today reacted strongly to the latest CD controversy and alleged that UPA leaders Lalu Prasad and Ram Vilas Paswan were trying to mislead people by releasing fake CDs.
''As Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chaterjee has already been handed over all materials to substatiate the allegations levelled in Parliament about the cash-for-vote scam, the UPA leaders should have waited till the inquiry was over,'' Mr Singh, who was on a personal tour, told reporters here.
Referring to today's CD released by the UPA in a press conference in New Delhi, the BJP president said it was aimed to ''mislead'' people.
Mr Singh also demanded that the land for the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) be given back, adding that he had held talks with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi in this regard.
''I told Ms Gandhi that the land be given back to the SASB,'' he said.
The UPA today sought to counter the NDA's attack on it over the cash-for-vote scam by releasing a CD of another sting operation carried out on BJP MP Faggan Singh Kulaste, allegedly containing his voice.
The CD was released at a joint press conference held by UPA leaders Ram Vilas Paswan and Lalu Prasad along with Samajwadi Party leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh.
