Fatehgarh Sahib, Aug 4 (UNI) The Punjab Artihya (Commission) Association has demanded immediate release of Rs 1.25 crore, which is due to the commission agents in the state from various procurement agencies.
Talking to mediapersons here today, Association Chairman Ram Swarup Sharma said that the government procurement agencies had not paid Rs 1.25 crore, as payment for storage of wheat for the agencies. These agencies include FCI, Punjab Warehousing Corporation, Markfed, Pungrain, Punjab Agro and Punsup.
The commission agents paid very penny to farmers for the wheat procured this season to the farmers, he said and added that the procurement agencies instead of complimenting the commission agents have preferred to block their payments.
