Katiyar demands all party meet to discuss terrorism
Bhubaneswar,Aug 4(UNI) BJP General Secretary Vinay Katiyar today demanded an all party meeting to discuss growing terrorism in the country.
Holding the Congress led UPA government squarely responsible for the rise in terrorist activity because of its 'vote bank politics', Mr Katiyar demanded a white paper on terrorism and a meeting of the security council forthwith.
The BJP leader said the UPA had never taken the country and political parties into confidence to tackle the menace. ''It(UPA) lacks the will power to fight terrorism,'' he said.
Stating that the 'soft action' of the Union government had encouraged terrorism and weakened the country, Mr Katiyar said the recent statement of Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil that no innocent person should be picked up was ''most unfortunate''.
While stating that innocent people should not be punished, he wondered how could the police identify who was innocent or guilty unless it picked up the people and interrogated them.
He also flayed the rising infiltration of Bangladeshis into the country and said it had a direct link on terrorism.
''Infiltration is rising because of the vote bank politics pursued by the Congress,'' Mr Katiyar said and cited examples of rising population of a particular community in Assam, West Bengal and Tripura over the last four decades.
Mr Katiyar said even China was now facing the threat of terrorism propagated by the Muslim countries. It was high time, he said, that China joined hands with India to fight terrorism.
