Jammu MPs demand recall of Governor, want PM's intervention
New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) Criticising the mishandling of the Amarnath land transfer issue by a ''particular political'' party, two MPs from Jammu, Madan lal Sharma and Lal Singh Chaudhary today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to recall Governor N N Vohra and remove him from chairmanship of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
They suggested that Dr Karan Singh may be appointed as chairman of SASB, arguing that he was probably the best and non-controversial choice for the post.
The MPs also demanded that a high level team be sent to Jammu to resolve the controversy.
The two MPs put forward their demands in a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister when they called on him here this evening.
Mr Sharma and Mr Chaudhary said the Managing Committee of the Shrine Board should be reconstituted with members from local prominent figures and the minority community representing the valley.
