1 lk ex-gratia to Naina Devi victims by Haryana
Chandigarh, Aug 4: A day-after the worst ever stampede India has ever seen, Haryana government on Monday, Aug 4 announced an ex-gratia of Rs one lakh to the next-of-kin of each of the 32 victims of the state who perished in the Naina Devi tragedy on Sunday, Aug 3.
Official sources here said that the government would bear all expenses for the medical treatment of the injured, hailing from Haryana. The Punjab government had on Sunday, Aug 3 also announced an ex gratia of Rs one lakh to the next-of-kin of the deceased, besides bearing the medical cost of the injured. As many as 100 pilgrims who died in the stampede at the shrine are from Punjab, particularly from the Malwa belt.
The Himachal Pradesh government had also decided to give a compensation of Rs one lakh each to the nearest relatives of all the deceased. Besides the government also announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 to each of the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 each to those with minor injuries.
