New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The Government today decided to promote rural business hubs (RBHs), in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), to facilitate direct business linkage between the industry and the rural community.

Two memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in this regard were signed today between the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) and CII in the presence of Union Ministers Mahabir Prasad and Mani Shankar Aiyar.

An initiative of the Panchayati Raj Ministry, RBBs will help generate rural employment and higher and sustained income for the rural producers.

Panchayats and KVIC will jointly identify potential projects that can be supported under KVIC schemes and also extend marketing support through the corporate members of industry working on the RBH initiative.

KVIC will also extend its rural industries consultancy services to potential beneficiaries for project formulation and linkages with banks.

Such proposals will be processed through the fast track system.

Wherever required, training will be given to the potential beneficiaries by KVIC through accredited training agencies.

The CII's Cell for Skill Development will support skill development requirements for small and micro entreprises.

The Panchayati Raj Ministry will help the panchayats to set up common facility centers and other minor infrastructure by converging resources from various Schemes.

Panchayats will also provide backward linkages in terms of identifying genuine beneficiaries for the KVIC schemes.
