Lucknow, Aug 4 (UNI) The Samajwadi Party (SP) today charged the ruling Bahujan Samaj Party government with misusing government machinery for its August 9 national workers convention and demanded resignation of Chief Minister Mayawati over the issue.
''Ms Mayawati has no moral to continue as the CM as the government machinery was paralysing developmental works and collecting money for the forthcoming convention,'' said SP leader and leader of the opposition in Legislative Council, Ahmed Hassan here.
Talking to reporters, Mr Hassan said everyone in the government and police department were engaged in collecting funds for the convention or arranging buses and other means to ferry people for the gathering.
''When the state is reeling under the flood fury, no government officials are concerned about the peoples' plight,'' he charged.
Further terming the Convention as a 'government sponsored programme', the SP leader said people would not tolerate such misuse of funds for show-off of political strength through government machinery.
