Chikmagalur, Karnataka, Aug 4 (UNI) Sitting Bharatiya Janata Party Lok Sabha member from Chikmagalur, Mr D C Srikantappa, who was suffering from throat cancer, died in his home town Birur in the district today.
He was survived by his wife Lalithamma, two sons and a daughter.
Known for his simplicity, Mr Srikantappa, had represented Chikmagalur for three consecutive terms since 1998, 1999 and 2004.
He was also known as a progressive farmer and a social activist.
Due to illness Mr Srikantappa could not take part in the trust vote sought by the UPA government in the centre recently due to opposition by the Left parties on the Indo-US Nuclear deal.
The last rites would take place at his farm in Birur tomorrow.
