Chennai, Aug 4 (UNI) The second edition of the seven leg Amaron Karting Challenge would commence with the first leg races here on August 24.
The second leg would be held in Bangalore (September 7), third at Kochi (October 19), fourth at Goa (November 9), fifth at Mumbai (November 30), sixth at Kolhapur (December 7) and the seventh and final leg at Hyderabad (December 21).
The Grand finale, featuring top six finishers in the seven legs, would be held in Bangalore on January 11, 2009, Amara Raja batteries limited Managing Director Jayadev Galla told reporters here today.
The second edition of the event, open for school kids in the 12-16 age group, was launched today by Amaron Brand Ambassadors motorsport icon Narain karthikeyan, Armaan Ebrahim and Aditya Patel by unveiling the Karts fitted with the latest Subaru 4-Stroke engine.
Giving details of the event, Indian motorsport ace Akbar Ebrahim said the first 250 entries in each leg would be chosen for practice session, of which the top 64 fastest drivers would qualify for the heats.
The 64 drivers would be split into eight batches with eight karters in each batch and the top four of each heat would move into the next round, comprising four batches of eight karters each.
After another round of heats, the top four would enter the semi finals comprising two batches of eight karters each and the top four from each batch would qualify for regional finals, which would have eight karters in the grid.
The winner of the Grand finale would earn a full scholarship in the Amaron karting scholarship team, which takes parts in Indian Rotax championship and other events in India.
