Puducherry, Aug 4 (UNI) The Puducherry unit of the AIADMK would organise a demonstration in front of the Head Post-Office here on August 6 to condemn the Territorial Administration for not reserving 50 percent seats in Private Medical Colleges as the government quota.
The agitation would be to press the Government to introduce an act in this regard, a statement signed by party supremo Ms J Jayalalitha said.
Ms Jayalalitha alleged that last year the administration had obtained 311 seats which, in reality came down to only 233 seats in all the seven Private Medical Colleges whereas the Government should have got 450 seats, if 50 percent seats were provided.
She also alleged that permission to start Private Medical Colleges were granted without adequate infrastructure while the commencement of the Government Medical College for which about 70 percent works were complete, was being deliberately delayed to benifit the Private Medical Colleges.
The agitation would be to press the Government to expedite the commencement of the Government Medical Colleges and to render justice to the poor students who prefer to pursue medical education here, she claimed.
Mr D Jayakumar, MGR Mandram secretary and Puducherry state AIADMK secretary A Anbazhagan would lead the agitation, she added.
