10% children in India born with paediatric problems
Patna, Aug 4 (UNI) Every year about 10 per cent of the children in India are born with paediatric problems, including congenital hydrocele, inguinal hernia, undescended testicles and such other abnormalities.
This fact was revealed here yesterday at a daylong workshop on Paediatric Urology, organised by the Bihar unit of the Indian Association of Paediatric Surgeons.
Inaugurating the workshop at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science (IGIMS), state Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav said the government was ready to welcome any kind of activities related to welfare of children.
He praised the organisers of the workshop and promised to provide any kind of assistance by the government.
Chief guest at the workshop Dr A A Hai, also president of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), laid stress on the need of creating mass awareness about paediatric problems.
Organising secretary of the workshop Dr Binay Kumar applauded the surgeons of the state for showing better performance in the field of paediatric surgery, adding that there was a crying need of a well-equipped children's hospital in the state.
