Kolhapur, Aug 3 (UNI) Brokers dealing with yarn in the powerloom town of Ichalkaranji in the district called off their week-long strike, resulting in normalcy in the industry today.
Yarn brokers in the town went on strike on July 26, demanding hike in commission from traders, to which the traders did not agree.
''We advised the brokers to first withdraw their agitation, then we will discuss about their demand,'' Yarn merchants' association president Ghanshyam Totala said.
The Brokers association called a meeting yesterday, in which the merchants' association's advice was considered and they finally decided to withdraw the strike.
''Powerloom industry in Ichalkaranji faces problems regarding raw material prices and load shedding. In addition, this week-long strike has resulted in losses amounting to crore of Rupees for the industry,'' Mr Totala added.
