RJD urges Lalu Prasad to to introduce new train
Tiruchirapalli, Aug 3 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu unit of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today appealed to Railway Minister Lalu Prasad to introduce a new Express Train between Srirangam and Tirupathi for the benefit of pilgrims visiting the two famous Vaishnav pilgrim centres.
After attending the state executive meeting held here, State Party president A P Kesavan told newspersons that a resolution to this effect was adopted at the meeting.
The meeting hailed the Tamil Nadu Government's timely efforts of arresting the extremists involved in planting bombs at many places in the state and condemned the Gujarat Government for its failure to check terrorism in the state, Mr Kesavan said.
In the meeting RJD founder Lalu Prasad was also thanked for his efforts to get the RJD recognised as the seventh national party by the Election Commission of India and urged to sanction more trains for Tamil Nadu, he added.
The meeting also appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government to set right the erratic power supply in the state, and to ensure that the grants given by the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments reached directly the needy farmers, he said.
