Surat, Aug 3: Terror continues to haunt Gujarat's diamond hub, Surat. In yet another incident on Sunday, a live bomb was recovered from the city's Athwaline bus stop in Chowpati area. The bomb was found behind a hoarding at the bus stop. The bomb squad has reached the site and are trying to defuse the bomb.
Though the police can claim it as a success, the fact that the bombs are being found on a daily basis despite a high alert is a matter of concern. A number of live bombs have been defused in Surat ever since the deadly serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad on July 26. On July 29, 18 live bombs were recovered in the city and the count increased to over 20 in the following days.
The Gujarat government has till now maintained that the bombs found in the diamond city were an attempt to distract investigations into Ahmedabad serial blasts or distraction for strike elsewhere.
