Mainz, Germany, Aug 3 (UNI) After finishing his preliminary campaign with two wins and four draws, World Champion Viswanathan Anand booked a title clash with Norwegian prodigy Magnus Carlsen in the Grenkeleasing World Rapid Chess Championship here.

Anand, a winner here in the past seven times, will face Carlsen who finished second in the preliminary stage held between four players on a double round robin basis.

Defending champion, Anand, who is aiming for his 11th title, in the first half held draws with Carlsen and the world's highest rated woman player, Judit Polgar of Hungary.

The Indian finally came up with a win against Russian champion Alexander Morozevich to reach four points, which was enough for him to top the standings.

Anand, however, scored two victories against the 32-year-old Russian and drew the remaining four games to take his tally to four points.

Meanwhile, Carlsen drew all his games on the second day of the three-day event and was a close second, a half point behind Anand.

Morozevich with three points will fight it out in a play-off for the third place against Polgar today.

Anand was business-like coming in to the second day of the event having the joint-lead cushion with him along side Carlsen.

The event, part of the Mainz Chess Classics, is being played with 20 minutes for the entire game with a five-second increment after every move is made.
