Rs 23 cr proposal for Sabarimala roads: Minister
Kottayam, Aug 2 (UNI) The PWD Department prepared a Rs 23 crore proposal for the development and maintenance of roads to Sabarimala in the State, Kerala PWD Minister Mons Joseph said today.
After a meeting of the officials concerned in the districts of Kottayam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Kollam and Alappuzha, he said steps were being taken to start the works after the rainy season and complete them before the commencement of the Sabarimala Festival Season.
From next year onwards, the development of roads to Sabarimala would be done under the Heavy Maintenance Scheme.
Steps were also taken for the development of the roads to Alphonsa Pilgrimage Centre, Bharanaganam, Kudamaloor and Muttuchira under a special package.
Steps were also taken for re-tarring the road to Panachikkad Temple.
The Moithu Bridge on the NH 17 at Kannur would be opened for bus traffic from Monday.
