Rituals performed during eclipse period
Nashik, Aug 1 (UNI) Thousands of people performed various rituals during the solar eclipse here today.
This was the first solar eclipse of the year and people of this pilgrimage town thronged the banks of river Godavari, especially the 'Ramkunda', to take a holy dip.
They performed various rituals including Shraddha, worships and recitation of mantras. Many performed 'Dan' (donation of money as well as other goods) on the occasion.
Similar was the scene at Trimbakeshwar. Hundreds of people took holy dips in the 'Kushavarta Teertha' later, people visited various temples. The devotees included locals as well as tourists.
However, due to the overcast sky, the solar eclipse was not visible in the city as well as most parts of the district.
