Kathmandu, Aug 2: The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoists is set to renew its consultations on to discuss common minimum programme (CMP) with 25 political parties represented at the Constituent Assembly (CA) after its Central Committee took the official decision to lead the next Government.

The Maoist leaders have said they would put forth their policies and programmes before other parties as a part of efforts to forge the CMP for the new Government. The CMP is one of the conditions the Maoists have advanced to form their Government. Other conditions being the termination of Nepali Congress (NC), Unified Marxist Leninist (UML) and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) alliance and guarantee of Government stability till new constitution is drafted.

CPN spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that the party would make efforts to form a Government of Nepal based on national consensus.

"However, the party has kept open the alternative of a majority Government by making alliance with a few parties, if a consensus Government failed to take shape," he added.

Mahara said his party was ready to take the leadership of a new Government even if it is a minority Government, but on the condition that other parties make commitment not to bring on-confidence motion against the Government until the new constitution is drafted.

According to nepalnews.com, President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav had called on the Maoists, on July 29, to form the government within a week.
