Governor takes people of Jammu for granted: Jaitley
Jammu, Aug 2: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary and in-charge of its Jammu and Kashmir affairs Arun Jaitley on Saturday August 2 alleged that Governor N N Vohra took people of Jammu ''for granted''.
Speaking during an interaction with the trader community of Jammu region, Mr Jaitley said, ''Mr Vohra alienated from the national forces and floated the thoughts of separatists without keeping in mind the sentiments of Jammu people.'' He alleged that the Governor had misconceptions about the people of Jammu and was unaware of unity and integrity of the region.
''People have come out of their house with one voice. The massive agitation and protests are a clear indication of fight for their rights,'' Mr Jaitley added.
He, however, also asked the people to keep in mind the sanctity of all religions and avoid violence during agitation.
''To strengthen the agitation, incidents provoking inter-community fights and hurting the religious sentiments must be taken care of,'' the BJP leader added.
About the issue of land transfer to Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, Mr Jaitley said, ''Amarnath is symbolic of a religion and the issue erupted with an idea to wipe out Indianness from the Valley.'' Criticising the Chattisingh Pora incident in Kashmir, he said some anti-national forces were attacking the existence of multi-religions in the summer capital.
