Lakhisarai, Aug 2 (UNI) Atleast 50 labourers were feared killed as a truck carring them fell into a river near Ghoghasa village under Halsi police station area in the district tonight.
Police said the incident took place when a truck carring about 100 labourers fell into the Pashiya river, breaking the parapet of the overbridge of the river. The ill-fated truck was coming from Akauni village in Lakhisarai district. The labourers were from various villages in Saharsa, Madhepura and Kagarai districts.
''Thirty-two bodies have been recovored so far'', police said, adding divers have been pressed into service to recover other bodies and rescue the missing people.
Fifty-one labourers swam to the shore safely.
Senior police and civil officers have reached the spot to monitor the relief and rescue operation.
