Chennai, Aug 1 (UNI) Topper Learning System, an interactive and integrated educational service provider, has launched Topper TV Channel and a website to help students from standards nine to 12 to excell in their studies.
Talking to newspersons here, Mr Sricharan Iyengar, co-founder, of Topper, claimed the channel, which was in the air for the last four months on experimental basis, was the first-of its-kind product in the world and the most watched educational channel.
He said an annual subscription of Rs 1,040 would help students to access the Topper channel as well as the website www.topperlearning.com.
''Topper, which has put a subscription target of five lakh students in its first year, expects over two lakh subscriptions to come from South India, he said.
''South India is an important market as Chennai and Hyderabad have a high number of secondary and senior schools with a large number of them undertaking premium higher education.'' ''A product like Topper, which supplements the current education system, will play a vital role for students in markets like Chennai'', he said.
Topper channel would be aired round the clock with a 30-minute package on core subjects of Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for Class nine to 12 students who could select a convenient time.
After watching the channel, the students could interact and clarify their doubts after logging on to the website, he said.
The topper, which developed the concept of school contact programme, proposed to contact 200 schools in the next few months. As part of the programme, Topper would educate students and teachers on supplementing the current education system, Mr Iyengar said.
Apart from providing tests and evaluating them, Topper would also provide a report card on a regular basis. There would also be a ranking system, he added.
