Thousands offer 'vavubali'
Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 1 (UNI) Thousands of people offered 'bali' in Kerala to propitiate their forefathers on the occasion of 'Karkidaka vavu' today.
A large number of people, including women and children, thronged the bathing ghats of various temples and beaches across the state.
Parasurama Temple in Thiruvallam, Shankhumukhom Beach, Aruvikkara, Papanasam Beach in Varkala and other temples in Kerala witnessed heavy rush since early morning.
At the Papanasam Beach in Varkala, hundreds performed the rituals since early morning under the supervision of priests and took a bath in the sea.
In Pathanamthitta, hundreds of people thronged the bathing ghats of various temples on the banks of Rivers Pampa, Achenkoil and Manimala to offer the annual 'vavubali' (Pitrutharpanom) in the Malayalam month of Karkidakom.
The 'Pithrutarpanom' was held at the Pampa-Triveni bathing ghats in Pampa on the foothills of Sabarimala in the morning hours.
