Mumbai, Jul 31 (UNI) The Ratanagiri gas and power company, a state and union government promoted power utility has asked a further lone assistance of Rs 300 cr from the Sate government. In a high level meeting held today it was also agreed by joint secretary power, Rajeev that the excess gas which is not utilized at RGPL would be allotted to the uran power project of state government so that more power can be produced there.
The meeting was held under chairmanship of chief secretary johny josef and was attended by high officials of the ntpc, idbi and gail as well as RGPL.
The RGPL plant earlier known as dabhol plant of controversial us company enron is producing only 600 mega watts of power against installed capacity of 1400 MW.
The palt is also not functioning as per expectations. Today it was decided to appoint an expert's committee to look into the pending agreement with another us giant GE which has supplied power plants of RGPL. The committee would advice the state and union governments about the agreement as well as other pending issues with the American giant.
