Gujarat students to take part in NASA Space Camp

Ahmedabad, Aug 1 (UNI) As many as 17 students from a local school have been selected to participate in an eight-day space camp, organised at the US Space and Rocket Center, the official visitor center of Marshall Space Flight Center of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

The students in the age group of 9 to 18 will leave for USA on August 6. Space Camp Ambassador India Atf (SCAIA), the official country representative of the US Space and Rocket Center, has organized programme for them.

According to Brij Mohan Sood, ambassador of India affiliated center, the students from HBK New High School will experience an intensive training programme aimed at exposing students to the real world applications of the math, science, engineering and technology concepts that they study at school.

The Space Camp will feature three main tracks -- Space Track, Robotics Track and the Aviation Track, involving children's participation in realistic, interactive shuttle missions, rocket construction, astronaut simulators and other problem solving and team building exercises.

The Programme will help children strengthen their powers of reasoning, solve problems creatively and enhance their leadership skills.

The programmes have been proclaimed by education experts, teachers and parents from around the world, as highly credible and even life changing educational experiences.

Till date, 12 lakh students from around the world had participated in the Space Camp. Last year, 200 children from six schools in Bangalore had attended the programme.
