New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) Riding high on the success of its mini-car Chevrolet Spark, General Motors India has registered a sales growth of 25 per cent in July 2008, compared to the corresponding month last year.
The company sold 5,706 units in July this year as against 4,570 units during the same month previous year.
Notwithstanding the sluggish market conditions and rising fuel prices, the monthly surge in sales figures is primarily driven by the Chevrolet Spark, which registered 120 per cent sales growth this month in the country, with a tally of 3,570 units sales, followed Chevrolet Tavera with 921 units, Chevrolet Aveo with 501 units, Chevrolet Optra 344 units and Chevrolet Captiva with 370 units sales in July.
''Due to the ever increasing demand for our Chevrolet brand of vehicles, our network expansion drive is in full swing and we aim to set up a total of 190 sales and service points across the country by the end of this year,'' company Vice President P Balendran said in a statement.
General Motors India is a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Corporation, with a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Halol, Gujarat.
The company makes the Chevrolet Tavera, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Optra SRV and Chevrolet Captiva for the Indian market.
