Delhi Govt, IGNOU sign MoU for capacity building and skill

New Delhi, Aug 1 (UNI) An MoU was today signed between the Delhi Government and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) wherein the two parties agreed to cooperate and take joint action to support the development of health/medical education and training in agreed areas.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi Health Minister Yoganand Shastri, Principal Secretary to the CM P K Tripathi, Principal Secretary (Health) Vivek Rae and Vice-Chancellor IGNOU Raj Shekharan Pillai.

As per the MoU, signed by Director, Health Services, on behalf of the city-government and Registrar, IGNOU, on behalf of the University, IGNOU will provide admission to the learners sponsored by the Delhi Government, distribute self-instructional material, study centres for various courses of study, academic counselling to the learners and allow the use of satellite communication channels for tele-conferencing, interactive video-counseling, among others.

The city government would sponsor in-service candidates for various programmes in the School of Health Sciences, IGNOU.

The fees of the sponsored candidates will be remitted by the city government. The IGNOU will provide 10 per cent discount on fees for candidates sponsored by the city government.

It has been decided to develop strategies to design, develop and implement academic programmes/courses and continuing medical education and training programmes/courses. Both the parties would facilitate in this direction and ensure capacity building and skill development of the trainees.

The School of Health Sciences has agreed to offer courses such as Post Graduate Diploma in Maternal and Child Health (PGDMCH), Post Graduate Diploma in Hospital and Health Management (PGDHHM), Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine (PGDGM), Post Graduate Diploma in Community Cardiology (PGDCC), B Sc (Hons) in Optometry and Ophthalmic Techniques (BSCHOT), PG Diploma in Endodontics, PG Diploma in Oral Implantology, Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B Sc N (PB), Certificate in Competency Enhancement for Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) Female Health Worker (FHW) (CCEANM), Diploma in Nursing Administration (DNA), Certificate in Maternal and Child Health Care (CMCHC) and Certificate in Newborn and Infant Care (CNIC).
