A-Rod, wife trying to keep divorce amicable for kids' sake

New York, Aug 1 : Baseball star Alex Rodriguez and his estranged wife Cynthia are trying to keep their ongoing divorce battle amicable for the sake of their kids.

Rodriguez had publicly asked for the prenuptial agreement signed between him and his wife to be enforced, but in private he has been trying to hush things up.

"They've been talking on the phone and are working things out for the sake of their daughters," New York Daily quoted a source as saying.

The baseball ace is further quietly negotiating a divorce deal with Cynthia, to avoid having to answer embarrassing questions in court, like whether he had an affair with Madonna or cheated with a series of strippers, other sources said.

Rodriguez also doesn't want to be estranged from the most important girls in his life - his daughters Natasha, 3, and Ella, 3 months - and he's already worked out a visitation schedule with Cynthia, sources said.

"They're always going to be in each other's lives," one source said.

"When he breaks the home run record, they'll be sitting there in the front row," the source added.

The developments came after the Daily News reported that A-Rod's response to Cynthia's July 7 divorce filing includes a request that their prenuptial agreement be enforced - and a request to airbrush his alleged infidelities out of the record.
