42 feared drowned in boat capsize incidents; 17 bodies recovered
Lakhimpur Kheri/Azamgarh, Aug 1 (UNI) As many as 42 people were feared drowned in separate boat capsize accidents in Lakhimpur Kheri and Azamgarh districts of Uttar Pradesh today.
Bodies of 17 persons, including six girls, have so far been fished out, police confirmed.
All in all 20 persons were suspected drowned after their boat capsized mid-stream in the swollen Gomti river at Semra ghat in Pasgavan colony, official reports from Lakhimpur Kheri stated.
Among them, corpse of five people have been fished out, while 15 others were still missing.
The another incident happened in Kandhrapur colony at village Gayaspur in Azamgarh, where 22 students were feared drowned. Twelve bodies have been taken out till now.
The students were returning from a college in Kandharpur when the incident occurred.
Meanwhile, efforts to recover the missing bodies were still on.
