Agra, Aug 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh here police today shot dead two notorious criminals, including Durgesh Jatav who was carrying a bounty of Rs one lakh on his head.
Durgesh Jatav was gunned down at village Samahi in Etmadpur area, while his brother and associates managed to escape.
He was facing charges in over 17 criminal cases of murder, loot and abduction. The state government had declared a reward of Rs one lakh on him.
In another encounter, wanted criminal Kamal Gurjar, carrying a total reward of Rs 39,000 on his head, was killed in Iradat Nagar area.
Gurjar and his aides were surrounded by a police team in the jungles of Motipura. The outlaws opened fire upon the police, but one of them died in retaliatory firing by the cops.
The deceased was later identified as Gurjar, police said.
State government had announced a bounty of Rs 20,000 on him, while the Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments had respectively declared award of Rs 15,000 and and 4,000.
A search to nail down their aides were on.
