TN Horticulture Association urges TN CM to ensure water
Tiruchirapalli, Jul 31 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Horticulture Crops Producers Association today urged State Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to ensure adequate water supply from Karnataka, as the reservoirs in Karnataka had started overflowing.
In a memorandum to Mr Karunanidhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, a copy of which was released to the press here, Association President Puliyur A Nagarajan said, considering the requirement of water for kuruvai paddy crops in about three lakh acres in the delta region, the State Government and the Centre were urged to ensure water from Karnataka.
Mr Nagarajan urged Dr Singh and the Karnataka Chief Minister Y S Yediyurappa to release water to Tamil nadu, as per the Interim award of the Cauvery Tribunal.
