Satinder to officiate at Beijing Olympics

Chandigarh, Jul 31 (UNI) International Grade I Hockey Umpire Satinder Sharma, an officer in the State Bank of India, Punjab University Branch here has received yet another prestigious assignment to officiate at the Beijing Olympics.

He is scheduled to reach Beijing on August 4 to attend a Pre-Olympic training camp, to be held for the Umpiring Team, before the start of the Games.

Satinder, who is on the elite panel of the Federation of International Hockey (FIH), has to his credit several international assignments which include Junior World Cups at Hobart, Australia, 2001 and Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2005, Senior Men's World Cups at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 2002 and Monchenglabach, Germany, 2006, Busan Asian Games Korea, Olympic and World Cup Qualifiers and Main Olympics at Athens, 2004 and Five Champions Trophy Tournaments.

By performing consistently at the highest international level for the last over eight years, Satinder has brought honour to the country and has made Chandigarh and his employer, State Bank of India, proud.
