Hyderabad, Jul 31 (UNI) Demonstrations were held and effigies of Andhra Pradesh Panchayat Raj Minister JC Diwakar Reddy's brother JC Prabhakar Reddy were burnt today in various parts of the state in protest against the 'objectionable remarks' made by him against a Road Trasnport official on July 28.
The Backward Classes (BC) Unions organised demonstrations in Kadapa, Tirupathi and Anantapur Districts and demanded the arrest of Mr Prabhakar Reddy.
'Angered' at the remarks, the Nayibrahmina Sangham has called for statewide 'barber shop' bandh tomorrow threatening the agitation would be intensified if the government did not take action against Mr Reddy.
Meanwhile, the BC union leaders submitted a memorandum to State Home Minister K Jana Reddy urging him to arrest Mr Prabhakar Reddy.
CPI State Secretary K Narayana asked Chief Minister Y S Rajasekahra Reddy to dismiss the Minister for running a private bus service in his name.
