Orissa to lay 6110 kms road under PMGSY

Bhubaneswar, Jul 31 (UNI) The Orissa government today decided to submit a project proposal for laying of 6110.51 kms of road under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana(PMGSY).

The decision was taken at the state level standing committee meeting presided over by state Chief Secretary Ajit Kumar Tripathy.

The meeting also decided to delegate more power to Chief Engineers and Superintendent Engineers for expeditious disposal of tenders.

Sources said till date out of the total Rs 6010.97 crore sanctioned for implementing the scheme, the state had received Rs 3083.11 crore, including Rs 731.63 crore, during the current year.

Out of this Rs 2587.04 crore amounting to 84 per cent of the fund had already been utilised.

The state had already introduced e-tendering, electronic clearing system and National Electronic Fund Transfer for payment to contractors to maintain transparency and check corruption.
