Meraj-un-Nabi celebrated with religious fervour
Srinagar, Jul 31: The Meraj-un-Nabi was celebrated throughout the Kashmir valley with religious fervour and gaiety. Lakhs of people joined the night-long prayers in different mosques and other holy places in the valley on Wednesday, July 30.
However, main celebration was held at Hazratbal shrine, which houses the holy relic of Prophet Mohammad, where more than two lakh people joined the night-long prayers. The devotees, who had come from all parts of the valley, besides Kargil and Leh, had glimpse of the holy relic after morning prayers today. Holy relic will be displayed for the devotees after every prayer throughout the day.
Similar prayer meeting were also held at Jehab Sahib Soura, Kailashpora, Pinjoora Shopian, Khiram and other holy places, mosques and Jamia masjids. The authorities have made transport and other arrangements for the devottes. Official sources said more than 100 buses of State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) and about three hundred private vehicles were plying from different areas to holy Hazratbal shrine since last evening.
The health department had established a number of medical camps for the devotees besides about a dozen ambulances had been placed at different points to meet any emergency.
