All party delegation to meet PM on Hogenakkal water project
Bangalore, Jul 31 (UNI) An all-party delegation from Karnataka will go to New Delhi to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to prevail upon him to direct the Tamil Nadu government to stop its Hogenakkal drinking water project in the Cauvery basin immediately.
Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai, replying to a question by Mr Puttegowda (JD-S), during question hour, said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa would convene a meeting of all the party leaders, prior to taking a delegation, soon after the Legislature session and discuss the issue threadbare.
Karnataka's rights would be protected at any cost, he added.
Earlier, he explained that a joint team of both the states was formed to survey the area three years ago and officials from Tamil Nadu had attended only one meeting so far.
