4 minors among 8 sex workers rescued in Mumbai
Mumbai, Jul 31 (UNI) The Social Service Branch (SSB) of the city police has rescued eight Commercial Sex Workers (CSW), including four minors, from an apartment on V P road in south Mumbai and arrested four persons in this connection.
Working on a tip-off from Freedom, an NGO, about the minor girls being forced into flesh trade, a team of SSB officials raided the Noor Mohammed Baig compound at around 2200 hrs yesterday and rescued the victims, sources today said.
Four of the girls were in the age group of 14-15 years.
Police have arrested Ramshree Omprakash Thakur (60), Sunita Sushil Singh (40), Kallu Bahadur Keshav Singh (40) and Arjun Dangi Budhan Mahato (37) under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA) and IPC. They have also seized Rs 1.92 lakh from their possession.
The quartet would be produced before the Metropolitan Magistrate later in the day.
