Woman dies of diarrhoea, 10 hospitalised
Puducherry, Jul 30 (UNI) A woman died and ten others were hospitalised, following the outbreak of diarrhoea at T N Palayam in Embalom Assembly Constituency here last night.
Residents of a tribal settlement at Vettakkaran Kudiyiruppu at T N Palayam were affected by diarrhoea last week and some of them had been discharged after treatment from the Karikkalampakkam Government Primary Health Centre.
However, a few people, including the deceased C Vijaya, were admitted to the Government General Hospital with symptoms of diarrhoea last night.
Meanwhile, Puducherry State ST Federation President Ramkumar, in a statement here, said there had been an outbreak of Cholera at T N Palayam in which a woman died and several others were hospitalised. He had submitted memoranda to the Puducherry Chief Minister, Health Minister and others, urging to depute a team of doctors to the affected areas.
Officials were yet to confirm the outbreak of Cholera and suspected it to be a case of Diarrhoea, caused by consumption of contaminated water.
