Dehra Dun, Jul 30 (UNI) Uttarakhand Assembly was adjourned sine die today, on the first day itself, following ruckus by the Opposition.
The state Assembly was adjourned sine die on the first day for the first time in its history.
Earlier, the House was adjourned thrice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prakash Pant tabled second report of the Select Committee on the Uttarakhand State University Bill 2008 amid the din.
Members of the Opposition Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party stood on their seats and started shouting and demanded discussion on several issues when Speaker Harwansh Kapoor entered the House.
The Opposition also shouted anti-government slogans.
Mr Dinesh Agarwal (Congress) and Mohammed Shahjad Qazi(BSP) demanded CBI enquiry into a case of rape with a Dalit woman while Opposition leader Harak Singh Rawat accused the government of neglecting the Opposition and also expressed deep concern over law and order situation in the state.
Earlier, in the morning the Speaker adjourned the Assembly till 1230 hrs following pandemonium created by the Opposition members.
Members of the Congress and BSP again started shouting anti-government slogans and continued the din when the House reassembled at noon.
Uproar by the Opposition was also witnessed in the last session of the Assembly on the State University Bill. The government transferred the matter to Select Committee after the Opposition alleged that the government was destroying the autonomy of the universities by the Bill.
Amid the din and bustle, the Speaker adjourned the House sine die.
